Confirmation Statement Guide for UK Companies
Everything a director needs to know about filing a CS01 with Companies House.
What is a confirmation statement?
A confirmation statement (form CS01) is a yearly filing that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is correct. It replaced the annual return in 2016 and applies to every UK limited company and LLP.
Who must file one?
All UK limited companies, including dormant companies, must file at least once every 12 months. Companies cannot skip a year because they did not trade.
When is it due?
Your first review period starts on incorporation, and later ones start when the previous period ends. You then have 14 days after the end of the review period to file. You can file early, which restarts your 12-month period.
What information is confirmed?
- Registered office address and registered email address
- SIC codes (see our SIC code change service)
- Directors and company secretary
- Shareholders and statement of capital (see shareholder and PSC updates)
- People with significant control
- A confirmation that the company’s intended future activities are lawful
How much does it cost?
Companies House charges £50 for an online filing (from 1 February 2026). Our fixed fee is £100 + VAT when you order online, and it includes the Companies House fee. See our pricing page.
What if you file late?
Filing late is an offence and can lead to strike-off. If you have missed your date, read about a late confirmation statement and file as soon as you can.
Identity verification
New rules require directors and PSCs to verify their identity. Read our director ID verification guide for the basics.
